Is there any chance that Petsmart will force me to payback my Academy training if I quit 1 year out of academy?

I’m trying to work in a new private salon in the same town but I just wanted to know if they are able to do anything about me not staying the full 2 years. Some say the contracts ended but my store leader says I signed it and need to stick to it. I am quitting either way because that whole place is just a big clown show now.
