Is it even worth applying through jee mains atp?

So i gave met-1 and scored 176, which is a good score for cse in main campus. Recently boards result also came. I did not score what i was expecting, osm is to blame i guess, but i still got 94%. So 176 met score and 94% boards, sounds safe for cse at main campus with the 20% scholarship.
Now about jee mains, i got a rank of 26XX in the mail which I received. And keeping in mind the fact that only about 20% seats would be filled through mains, that is somewhere around 200. So with a rank of 2.6k do you think it should be a good option applying through mains or should i just stick with met and boards?
I don’t want to waste 10k so if someone has read the hugeass pdf about the counselling process, can you please tell me about the refund policy. I will only apply for cse at main campus, so if i don’t get it through mains counselling, will i get the money back or not? I feel like they have complicated the admission process this year.
Lastly, fuck cbse, fuck nta, fuck india’s education system and the ministry

So i got 96%ile in jee mains so no luck with any nits or iiits, and now i am more or less stuck with choosing a private college atp. But i am really confused between Thapar cse and mit Manipal cse. Which of them is better? Academics, packages, placements, campus and overall campus life and vibe, coding culture, peer group and everything. Would help me a lot if some of you might help. I from delhi so Thapar is definitely near, but that said, should i consider it over manipal or not?
