Asking for Personal Injury Comparisons

I am an entry level associate at a small personal injury firm. We have myself and another associate. We have a healthy mix of prelitigation and litigation cases. We have a supervising attorney who has higher value cases and oversees our litigation work.

I have a roughly 150-180 case load at any given time. Vast majority are prelit. I am the newest associate so 10-30% of my time is drafting lawsuits, motions, objections, and attending depos and court appearances for the other attorneys. Typical associate work.

I have no comparison for how well I am doing in my settlement figures. Of course, the boss always wants more. In 2026, I am averaging a little over $33,000 a week in firm fees.

Nor do I have any comparison on what a fair rate of compensation is. I am in the northeast if that is important.

I am asking for guidance on strength of performance, what sort of goals I should have, and when the salary talk comes up, what I should with confidence be looking for.

Thank you.
