I set out to build a comment section for every research paper as a Chrome extension sidepanel. Now focusing on the single-user case.
Last year I thought it would be amazing to have a comment section for every research paper, right where you read them in the browser, not buried in X/Twitter threads. So I started building a Chrome extension sidepanel that lets you comment on any passage of any paper, on any publishing website. As you can probably imagine, it's very hard to get people publicly commenting on research, and in general, building a social network is super hard, so I gradually shifted my focus to the single-user case. You can use this tool to take notes for yourself, easily share them via URL, or set up private lab groups. I just launched the first version on the Chrome Web Store and I'm looking for feedback to understand who actually needs this and where to take it next. Happy to hear any thoughts! https://researchcomments.com/
