What's the next step?
Please help! I (20F) attended a university for my first two years of college. I have since transferred back home, since the school didn't have the program I intended to go into. I had around 2.6k in housing fees that I didn't pay, and the school has since sent it to debt collectors (Williams and Fudge Inc). They've tried to contact me through a call, as well as a letter. Around the end of April, I sent them a debt validation letter via certified mail, and just now they have sent the validation. What are my next steps with the negotiation process? Should I continue to contact them only in writing, or switch to email for faster communication? The debt hasn't hit my credit yet, which is good, but Iam worried that if I continue to contact them only in writing, it'll take longer, meaning the debt will have an impact on my credit. How much should I negotiate? I just started a new job with pretty good pay, but I don't start until next week. If I negotiate through writing, should it also be certified mail?
