Maintenance of water softener: professional or do it yourself?
To be honest, the checks the professionals do, most of them seem pretty easy to do yourself.
Definitely if they would just explain how to do it. Which of course they don't. Ok this makes that the warranty might be voided and a defective apparatus or malfunctioning will be blamed on you. But I wonder if that is not the case by default. Guess they won't replace the device for free after three years anyhow.
To most important thing regarding maintenance seems to put some hars cleaning resin every year, which can be bought in a store. And some biofilm cleaning, which is just adding some tablets to the salt. According to the technician, they replace some valves every three year by default. Also important seems to check the hardness of your water and regulate it yourself if too soft or hard as both can damage e.g. your boiler. But this is also doable yourself.
Does anyone know where to add the resin cleaner? I guess in the "pekelbuis"/tube in het "zoutvat"/salt reservoir?
We have the BWT Silk 15L .
