I am a 51-year-old retired teacher living on disability, and I recently had to move my mother into a memory care facility. Until now, we were splitting rent, but with her gone and my lease not up until August, I am struggling to make ends meet. My disability income doesn’t come close to covering rent, and I was making up the difference with a part-time job as a restaurant server.

Unfortunately, since January, I have been unable to work due to severe iron deficiency anemia and possible internal bleeding. I keep trying to return to work, but after just a couple of hours, I can barely stand. My legs and hands are numb, and I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled next week because my doctors are concerned about internal bleeding. My bills are due soon, and I have already received an eviction notice. I am trying to transfer to a one-bedroom apartment, but the extra fees are more than I can afford right now.

I am losing sleep from worry and have never been in a position like this before. I am reaching out for help because I truly have nowhere else to turn. Any support you can offer would mean so much, and I promise to pay it forward when I am able.
