Was told who my line manager is out of the blue by the CEO - should I address this with the line manager?
Hi, freelancing part time for six years for a small co.
Today my CEO put a 'quick update' meeting in which freaked me out, I'm always worried about how long this gig will last!
She said she had met with a founder and my colleague R yesterday and that she was meeting me to say he'll be line-managing me. I wasn't clear whether I was already supposed to know this or if it's new.
I'm a bit concerned that I've had this meeting, she said he was worried about "treading on toes" but I feel more like I have been out of line.
I talked to a friend and she said it might be an idea to address it directly with him tomorrow to clear the air (eg just welcome the change and acknowledge the conversations that have gone on this week). I don't want to because it sounds awkward but I agree that would be for the best.
Any advice?
