Finding a community / making friends online as someone looking to be a hobbyist artist
Hello there
I almost never use Reddit but I thought I should make a post because I've been wanting to get into art for most of my life, and yet always find myself giving up
I so strongly wish I stuck with it during my early teens because it's always been an interest of mine and something I'm deeply interested in pursuing, but my own insecurities and a general sense of feeling very overwhelmed scared a younger me away
But here I am, better late than never, and I'm looking to (hopefully) change my life routine into something that will better accommodate my genuine love and passion for art. I want to become a hobbyist artist and feeling happy doing so

For those of you who /did/ grow up in online art spaces during your teenaged years, how did you find those communities and make friends? Is there anything I should look out for? I've been thinking about posting my (very) amateur drawings to sites like Twitter in hopes of building a small following and making pals that way, is there much more I could do?
I feel like I'm finally feeling comfortable following the long and complicated path to becoming an artist and I would love to make this experience a friendly / collaborative one
Thanks for reading, any advice would mean the world to me!!
