How does selling adopts work????
I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question, but can someone explain how selling adopts works? I’ve always found it a bit hard to understand the concept behind it... Does the artist sell the right to use their character design somewhere? But a dishonest person could just not pay and use the character anyway... How does this work? I’m really sorry if this sounds stupid and I'm missing some obvious aspect of it lol
[discussion] what should I do if I can’t get in touch with the commissioner?
Someone commissioned me on Ko-Fi, but they are not responding to any messages or emails, what should I do? They have already paid but I’m not able to access any details as they are not responding.
[Discussion] Is my art style good enough for commissions ???
i started taking digital art seriously in january of 2025
and been practicing a lot by drawing with my finger on my phone and using cheap stylus on my brothers tablet
later in april i got an xp pen deco mini 7 which helped improve significantly and later started using a lenovo thinkpad yoga with it's stylus and touchscreen which made my line work even better
i started doing commissions early this year and so far only made 5$ for a meme commission for friend and till this day i only got scammers in my dms instead of real clients
is there anything about my art style that is the reason people don't commission me or is it something else ???

How do I go back to the fundamentals?
For context: I've been drawing since I was around 5/6 years old but I've decided that I would start to take art more seriously instead of just trying to draw from my mind (I'm 18 now) but I'm stuck because I have all of these ideas but I have no clue where to actually start when it comes to learning.
I've seen a lot of people say that when you practice something the wrong way for so long it gets engraved into your head, so I guess my question is how do I go back to the fundamentals?
And yes I've tried the art books, references and YouTube tutorials but I feel as though I missing something. I've spent weeks working on breaking things down into shapes but I feel as though I'm not making any improvements.
Color and paint is something I'd like to explore too, and yes once again I have tried tutorials but I feel like I'm missing something there as well.
Any tips? You tubers? Study techniques?
How Many Hours Do Professional Artists Practice a Day ?
I know there is no specific time that fits all, but if you are a pro, you must have found a sweet spot where you don’t over-practice or under-practice. For those who practice several hours a day, what do you listen to in the background to avoid getting bored ?!
Art model
I posed for a college art class and agreed to do three consecutive sessions. However , things went well until halfway in I experience unexpected arousal ie. Full erection lasting at least 10-15 minutes. I held the pose and continued modeling and nobody said anything but now I’m very humiliated and wondering if this is normal in art classes or if I should cancel the two future classes I’m scheduled to model for due to this potentially happening again and having to face the same class with a straight face after this embarrassing experience . Any feedback would be much appreciated. Please only artists or people who have modeled or artists who have done figure drawing respond.
How to keep an artstyle consistent.
I've been trying to draw a couple characters in different angles, side profile, 3/4, front.
But with every angle the character looks completely different, how can i keep this from happening?
Can I sell my art?
Hello! Art has been a hobby of mine for years and I have tried many different mediums, from digital to mosaic to collaging and more. I am curious to see if this painting and a series like it would sell? And if it can, what should I price it as? I am planning to do paintings like this in all different sizes and prints, some even involving creating other images from my smoke technique (skulls, moon phases, flowers, etc). This piece is an 8x8 canvas, acrylic. If I sold this size, I think $15 would be reasonable. Please let me know and thank you in advance :)
How do you like your own art??
This is my first time posting on Reddit so forgive me if I am doing it wrong. I’m an artist I’ve been an artist since I was a child. For the past few years I’ve struggled to really connect with my own art. It’s not bad, my art, but for some reason I don’t get the same fulfillment I use to. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or is experiencing this issue. I like drawing I’m extremely creative and dabble in almost every medium I can afford. I wouldn’t even say my passions gone it’s still definitely there. I just don’t understand where the confidence and excitement from creating went. Am I creating to fast? To mindlessly? On to big of a scale? Or am I not doing enough? I enjoy creating just not typically the end results. My friend says I am a perfectionist so I tried to be more mindful and it helped for a little bit but now I just feel the same as before again???
Any advice???
(Like I said I’ve never used Reddit before so I don’t know if I’m doing this right just need advice lol)
Is this AI? I commissioned an artist, and it feels like I got scammed, and I don't really know what to do...
I commissioned an artist for a small oil painting a while ago, and she has been difficult to reach for updates. I've tried to stay positive and such, but she finally got back to me today with these images, and I feel a little heartbroken that this is most likely AI. I also sent her a deposit for the painting. The sketch before this was very genuine, and I looked at her other work, and it did not look like AI at all.
How do I draw proportions?
I’m getting back into art, and while I’m alright at faces, the anat of EVERYTHING else is bad. I just know the ribcage, spine, and hips exist. I need help
How should I price my commissions?
Some of these pieces are admittedly quite old (going from most recent to least recent), but I wanted to include a variety of what my work looks like!
I’ve done cheap commissions before, but due to the exhaustion and personal reasons I had to stop.
I’m trying to get back into it again but I want to price my work more accurately. What is it worth? What would you pay for it?
A piece can take me anywhere from 2 - 20 hours depending on complexity, rendering style, and how much I redraw. (I’m also quite a slow artist as I like to watch things in the background, so I don’t want to charge by hourly rates)
I want it to be high enough that I’m not feeling overworked and underpaid, but I still want them to be accessible and fair.
Any art advice or critique is welcome! ^^
Making Art that’s Profitable
So I have been an artist for over 8 years and I am only just recently pursuing It full time. I could really use some guidance on how I can consistently make sales, my price point is around $350-$450 for portraits that are on 11x14in canvas/paper. I have a website that looks very professional, an instagram, facebook and YouTube that I post a couple times out of the month on. I want to hear advice on where I should be selling/ what is a proven sales strategy for an artist in my niche. Thanks!
Here are some photos to get an idea of my skill level.
Is 23 too late to start in illustration?
I’ve loved drawing my whole life, but I was always afraid to turn it into my career. So when it came to choosing my education, I picked architecture instead. I’ve been working in this field for three years now, and I recently realized that I was just being untrue to myself. Is 23 too late to start promoting and monetizing my art? I feel so lost, like I’ve wasted years on the wrong thing.
Whats your favorite medium to work in and why?
I definitely prefer gouache, having worked in oil and watercolor in the past. Have never dabbled in digital, and would love to hear some pros and cons of switching over!
