Visiting Visa + Working Remotely
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to apply for a Schengen short-stay visit visa to visit my boyfriend in Sweden for around 60 days, and I have a few questions regarding remote work and supporting documents.
My ties to the Philippines:
- Full-time remote work based in the Philippines (I can provide COE, ITR, payslips, etc.)
- A business registered in the Philippines (DTI, COR, Business Permit available)
- A vehicle registered under my name
- Previous travel history in Asia
Additional context:
- I will be staying at my boyfriend’s house during the trip
- The trip will mainly be sponsored by him
- I still intend to manage/work remotely for my Philippine-based work/business while staying there
My questions are:
- Since I plan to stay for 60 days, will the embassy question my employment situation if I continue working remotely while in Sweden?
- If I only file around 7 days of formal leave from work, does that need to be stated in the COE?
- Should my COE include my intended travel dates?
- Is it better to mention remote work directly in the application, or just present it as proof of strong ties and income in the Philippines?
- Has anyone here applied for a Sweden visit visa while working remotely/self-employed? How did you present your documents?
- Since my boyfriend will sponsor my accommodation and expenses, what financial documents from him are usually strongest for approval?
- Are there any red flags with a 60-day stay for a first Sweden/Schengen visa application?
Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has gone through a similar situation, especially Filipinos who applied for Sweden or Schengen visas while employed remotely.
Thank you!
