Floods in Beitel Creek
Good reminder that floods and flash floods are a risk for urban areas as well. A year ago 13 people died in an early morning flash flood in San Antonio largely caused by overgrown vegetation which blocked the flow of Beitel Creek. Most of those people died while driving on their way to work
Kerrville Pets Alive to Host Remembrance Ceremony
Hundreds of animals died on July 4th along with 139 people. Many of those pets were cared for by Kerrville Pets Alive until they could be reunited with their owners. They rescued and cared for over 350 animals.
One of the most beautiful things I saw after this flood was Kerrville Pets Alive asking the public to take pictures of any deceased pets they found and also bring them any collars/leashes. With these pictures many families were able to learn what happened to their pets and others had some of their pets' belongings returned to them.
My parents lost a cat almost 30 years ago and they still wonder what happened to him sometimes. I think giving families that closure after such a traumatic event was very important.
Kerrville Pets Alive will be hosting a remembrance event in Kerrville on July 3rd for all pets, livestock, and other animals who died in the flood

Zunker family scholarships
The Zunker family foundation just awarded its first scholarships in honor of Reece, Paula Joe, Lyle (7), and Holland (3) Zunker. 8 scholarships worth 2,500 each were awarded to students at Tivy High School in KISD.
The Zunkers were very connected to KISD where Reece was a teacher and coach, Paula joe had been a teacher and Lyle was a student at Hunt Elementary. In 2024 Reece won secondary school teacher of the year.
Each scholarship honored things that were important to that family member.

Lawsuit against HTR RV park going before jury next January
Impact on day camps
The end of the article talks about the impact on day camps which were not really considered much in the law. for example some day camps now have to have roof access.
It also talks about a residential camp that had to close due to fiber requirement. the fiber requirement was listed but this camp had to shut down and sold its land before that

From the Nanny community on Reddit
What does everyone think about this post? The OP sounds like a serious micromanager who will seriously struggle to keep a nanny if she keeps wanting so much control/can’t handle that her baby will cry
