When did Perumal come to denote Vishnu?
Afaik, the word doesn't exist in any of the 4000 divya prabandams. So clearly it is a modern etymology. My question is it is literally - Perum+ Aal - A great person. So why and how it becomes a common name for Vishnu? I guess it is the Tamil equivalent?
