Loss of stability on one foot with top eyelet undone — normal?
Hey, quick question about inline skates / hockey skates:
Normally I skate with the top eyelet closed and things like crossovers, mohawks, punch turns, transitions etc. work pretty well.
Recently I tried leaving the top eyelet undone for more ankle mobility. Some movements actually feel nicer, but on one-foot glides I suddenly lose a lot of stability.
Especially my ankle seems to collapse outward sometimes (not really inward). It feels like I suddenly “drop” to the outside edge and almost fall.
Is this normal when skating with the top eyelet undone?
Does it just take time for the ankle to adapt, or is there something specific that helps with the outward collapsing on one foot?
Thanks!
