Elderly Narcissist Parent
Has anyone gone NC with an elderly NP? I struggled with parental narcissistic abuse and emotional detachment my entire childhood but didn’t understand what was happening. I had children and continued to endure the abuse so they would have a relationship with their grandparents. My children are now adults and can navigate their own relationships, so I finally made the decision to finally go NC in order to save my own mental wellbeing. They don’t really seem to care but I am sure I have been made out to be the villain and my NP likely enjoys spreading this narrative to anyone who will listen. I feel like my NP is just waiting for the other parent to pass so I can then be the ultimate awful person and they can feel totally vindicated. It’s always a matter of them being right and never wrong, never accountable, never ever sorry.
