I live with my mom and she is so hard to deal with. She is constantly complaining that no one does anything around the house and how we (me and her best friend) suck. Yet, sometimes she is the most awesome and loving parent. Today she got really mad at me because I told her I was spending the weekend four hours north with my dad the weekend of Mother’s Day. She got incredibly upset and accused me of going back to see my dad and friends (which I haven’t seen in 5 months due to college) on Mother’s Day weekend because I don’t like my her. When in reality I’m only staying at my Dad’s house because I am going to see my friend who is a senior in HS for her final theatre show. Then she started complaining about how she didn’t get anything for Mother’s Day last year. When in reality, she did get flowers and a card last year. She is also WORKING Mother’s Day weekend so I couldn’t take her out to dinner away. I will also be home around noon on Mother’s Day and she is acting like I will be gone the whole day.
I want to make it clear that ever since I got a job six months ago, the only thing my mother pays for is my car insurance and phone bill, I pay for everything else I own. I don’t really have spare money to buy her something big (like what she is implying she wants) for Mother’s Day. I understand how this is frustrating for her, but I don’t know what she wants me to do.
