Mayor Zohran Mamdani is a complete joke and his promises are trash
I am so sick of Mayor Zohran Mamdani using New York City as a personal stage for international social media activism instead of actually running the city. He built his entire mayoral campaign on radical, flashy promises to appeal to his base, and now that he is actually in office, he has delivered nothing but backtracks and failure.
Look no further than his absolute joke of a promise regarding Benjamin Netanyahu. For a year, Mamdani repeatedly bragged that he would order the NYPD to arrest the Israeli Prime Minister over the ICC warrant if he stepped foot in NYC. It was obvious political theater from day one to anyone with a basic understanding of international law and diplomatic immunity. Now, after farming tens of millions of views on X, he quietly drops a video admitting his administration "reviewed all avenues" and realized—shocker—the city has zero legal authority to do it.
But it’s not just his foreign policy stunts; his local promises are equally garbage:
The "Fast and Free" Bus Promise: He promised to overhaul public transit and make NYC buses completely free, but immediately shelved the idea because of the $1 billion price tag.
The Affordable Housing Flip: He completely reversed his stance on expanding the CityFHEPs housing program, opting to settle lawsuits and scale it back instead of fighting for the expansions he promised.
Taxing the Wealthy: He promised major corporate and personal income tax hikes on affluent New Yorkers, none of which have actually materialized from city hall.
Instead of focusing on the city's critical infrastructure, the rising cost of living, or pressing local public health concerns, he frequently prioritizes social media engagement and public disputes with international diplomats. The administration appears to be struggling with the transition from activism to governance, leaving a platform of ambitious promises increasingly defined by empty rhetoric and unachievable goals.
Title: Mayor Zohran Mamdani is a complete joke and his promises are trash
I am so sick of Mayor Zohran Mamdani using NYC as a personal stage for social media clout instead of actually running the city. He built his whole campaign on radical, flashy promises to get votes, and now that he’s in office, he hasn’t delivered a single thing.
Look no further than his absolute joke of a promise about Benjamin Netanyahu. For months, Mamdani bragged that he would order the NYPD to arrest the Israeli PM over the ICC warrant if he ever came to New York. It was obvious political theater from day one to anyone with a brain. Now, after farming millions of views on X, he quietly puts out a video admitting his administration "looked into it" and realized—shocker—the city doesn't have the legal authority to do it.
But it’s not just his foreign policy stunts; his local promises are equally garbage:
The free bus lie: He promised to overhaul public transit and make NYC buses completely free, then immediately shelved the idea because he realized it costs a billion dollars.
The housing flip-flop: He completely reversed his stance on expanding housing vouchers, choosing to settle lawsuits and scale them back instead of fighting for the people.
Taxing the rich: He promised major tax hikes on wealthy New Yorkers, but absolutely nothing has actually happened.
Instead of focusing on NYC's terrible infrastructure, the insane cost of living, or fixing local public health issues, he’s too busy trying to be an online influencer and fighting with international diplomats. He’s an activist, not a governor, and his entire administration is nothing but empty rhetoric and fake promises.
