US Managers: has an overseas employee ever asked you to lay them off?
The title says it all: have you ever had this experience? How did it work out?

Long story short, I’m ready to move on from my job. It’s well paid and on paper sounds great (got recently promoted), but I’m sick of this “building the plane while we fly it” bullshit and am circling the rim of burnout.
The company isn’t doing well financially - so any resource that leaves is a gain for the team. I wonder if I can talk to my manager to get laid off instead of me leaving. Important to mention that all of my management is American and based in the USA.
Is this common practice?
