anyone else notice...?

...towards the end of Bad Decisions, when Julian sings "i'm walking on a moonbeam, on and on...!", it feels like a nod to Katrina and The Waves' Walkin' On Sunshine? and come to think of it, that Strokes' song also makes me wanna listen to The Go-Gos' Vacation...or at least go on one. driving around in the convertible with a scarf keeping my hair protected from the whisps of wind. cool sunglasses with a suggested cat's eye shape, my matte red lipstick the only defining feature of an otherwise classic trope. cue Devo's Gut Feeling next, followed by The B-52s Dirty Back Road...and you may as well follow those with R.E.M.'s Texarkana, i reckon... 😉

i started a new playlist series in honor of this resurgence revival : NAG-rag (Nice And Gentle) ☆

this #1 playlist - the first of what will be many (please see my covid-era Mixed Tape Reboot series) - features their early tease release of Going Shopping, PLUS Killing Lies... as well as one each of my favorites by AHJ's and Julian's solo work. i aptly named this debut playlist '1980s hip-cool' 😉🥰😍

to keep the spirit alive throughout the playlist without overplaying The Strokes et al discography while awaiting the full album release (keep it a slow drip, folks - they deserve us to be primed and eager), i properly surround their songs with a tribute to their sound and feel with a wide array of musical artists ranging from well before and sometime after the first few waves of flourishing our dears have been rolling their rock out on...surf's up for another Endless Summer.

i am ready for the Strokes tsunami to take me up and away! and in such good company, too.

Reality (and All of Us Truebloods!) indeed Awaits! and we are SOOO READY for the love ♡🎶♡
