Xianxia recommendation..
I enjoy stories with smooth pacing and a highly intelligent, goal-driven MC who stays focused on what they want. I’m not a fan of protagonists who spare enemies out of unnecessary mercy, only for those enemies to return much later and cause problems again. Harem elements are fine, but I dislike MCs who instantly lose their judgment because of a “jade beauty” or romance that feels forced, rushed, or only exists for fanservice. I prefer romance with proper buildup, natural character development, genuine emotional chemistry, and relationships that develop gradually over time instead of characters becoming deeply attached after just a few encounters.
I appreciate comedy too, as long as it doesn’t ruin the overall tone or seriousness of the story. Another thing I dislike is when the MC becomes arrogant or starts showing off just because they defeated someone slightly stronger than themselves. I prefer protagonists who stay composed, mature, and focused on their long-term goals, brain-dead characters usually make me lose interest quickly.
The MC can be morally gray, ruthless, cruel, or cold-hearted — none of that bothers me as long as their actions make sense and they stay driven toward achieving what they want.
For reference, I’ve already read most of Er Gen’s novels like I Shall Seal the Heavens, A Will Eternal, Renegade Immortal, etc., so please don’t recommend other Er Gen novels since I feel many of them share similar concepts and themes.
Novels I’ve completed/read:
- Immortality Through Array Formations — my favorite (just completed it recently, so I’d especially appreciate novels with a somewhat similar vibe/theme)
- Ave Xia Rem Y — very good
- Lord of the Mysteries — very good (not xianxia, but mentioning it to show my taste)
- Shadow Slave — good
- Martial Peak — good
- Battle Through the Heavens — feels average to me now, though it was amazing when I first started reading novels
Some novels I dropped because they didn’t match my taste or became boring for me:
- Undying Immortal System
- Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation
- My Longevity Simulation (not really a fan of heavy time-loop stories)
- Warlock of the Magus World (lost interest after around 500 chapters)
- I Am the Fated Villain (got boring after around 300 chapters)
Also, please don’t recommend:
- Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality
- Who Let Him Cultivate?!
Both are already on my reading list.
