Super excited to be moving to this 100+ year home and I want the renovations to maintain the character and charm of the house.

Lots to do and ceilings are at the top of my list. Right now I am thinking about carrying the wood ceiling into the "formal" living room it is attached to and adding a wood wainscotting with a dark/moody wallpaper to the top half of the wall. Thoughts on if that would make the room too dark?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated! The house is HUGE and I want to make sure the interior flows together with a similar vibe and doesn't feel like each section is decorated differently.
