What can I do with this corner on the side of my couch

Just got a couch and now I have this empty space over here I think looks kind of weird… any suggestions of what I can put here

What do I do with this space?

I have this small space that I believe would have previously been firewood storage from before the fireplace was covered over. I love the feature but have no idea what to do with it. I previously had my record player in there but just got the shelf on the left for it. Any suggestions on what to do with this spot?

Bathroom color

Hi! New here

Hopefully this is allowed. Moving to a new place and this bathroom is genuinely haunting me. I don't love this grey/green? Tile. Or the pink/tan tub...but it's what we have for now. The walls basically match the tile. In person the color looks a little different.

What color would you guys think be best to go with this tub and tile?

I don't think the (awful to me) countertop and sink is helping but I'll eventually change it out. I wonder if a dark blue would look okay like the blue in the shower curtain. Pls help lol

Jewel Tone Room? (Green & Purple)

Hello!

Design challenged girly here! Recently purchased a 12x16 she shed and I want it to be cozy without being super dark. Green & Purple are my favorite colors and I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate them together in terms of painting the walls. I thought about doing a half wall? Maybe an accent wall? I just didn't want the space to be dark from top to bottom. I plan on having brown wood floors & cream furniture. Gold accent pieces throughout.

Alternatively, should I just hire a virtual interior designer? I have a hard time putting together color clothing, let alone picturing wall colors.

Photo for inspiration above! Thanks in advance!

First home is disconnected peaches and cream with a side of darkest corners of the galaxy. I'm drowning in yellow, shadows, mismatched floors, and weird angles. Furniture is mostly wood. We want a natural, relaxed home that feels like an oasis. Painter starts Tuesday, we have 2 colors chosen. Help.

I have a whole album if anyone wants to look through it all, however I'm focused on the entryway, downstairs nameless room, kitchen and dining room, living room, upstairs hallway, and bedrooms. Bonus: laundry room (I love my laundry time, so that one will take awhile to plan out) We will change all the current light fixtures, not our style. High ceilings throughout. This home is in the northern Italian countryside, and we both prefer a classic style, leaning towards Mediterranean but more down to earth (not Tuscan).

The house faces west with heavy shade from trees in the front yard. When all windows are closed, the house feels dim and spooky.

Entryway: feels like two different houses and the terracotta floor looks starkly different when the other rooms are open. I thought of a pale taupe color or a crisp white, I want to avoid all yellowness.

That in-between downstairs area with the table leads to a former pantry, the garage, and the laundry room. We have no idea what to do with it, I was thinking maybe an office space, gym, or hobby room. White for now?

For the kitchen and dining room, we are settled on a light azure-agave.

The living room is longer than it is wide, the library will take up half of the wall on the right side. Light sage green walls and white ceiling. Wallpaper on the library wall? Crown molding with uplighting will be installed if the library doesn't touch the ceiling. We have a teal angular sofa on order and a massive library.

The upstairs hallway has 0 natural light unless the balcony window is left open. I know how important various types of lighting are. I lived in a dim house that ruined my eyesight and made me very grumpy. The wallpaper trim and the curtain rod will be removed.

Master bedroom has a hideous Venetian style monstrous wardrobe. Husband does not want to paint it. We were forced to buy it from the owners for 1,000 more than it was worth. We want wallpaper on the wall opposite, where our bed will be. How can we swap the focal point from that eyesore?

Guest bedroom is...sad. It feels so heavy and lifeless when you walk in. I have no ideas for it. Mattress and frame were left from the previous owners.

Extra bedroom has no purpose, paint 'er white for now?

UPDATE - once intense bathroom turned ✨

EDIT: Swipe for before!! apparently I did it wrong - I’m not a content creator for many, many reasons lol.

So 203 days ago I posted for advice on this bathroom - and while we couldn’t do all of the things I wanted to do here (budget, etc), I feel like we’ve made it immensely better!

The bathroom is part of a guest house we’ll be renting out, and the main room has a sun/sunset vibe - so it only felt natural to lean into a moon/celestial feeling for this dark blue bathroom.

Would love to hear any thoughts you guys have - I’m just so relieved to be at this point finally 🥲

What can I do with this room under the stairs?

I have this room under the stairs. I was thinking maybe like a reading nook but I was also curious about what others might think to do with this space.

Another thought I had was to turn it into a cat room but my cats would rather be sunbathing I guess lol.

Any help is appreciated 🖤

Edit: it’s a rental so I can’t pull out the carpet and I have a garage to keep ugly stuff like cleaning tools. I really like the cat apartment idea and that was my original thinking but how do I protect the carpet!!

Best rug for living area

Hi all!

Recently moved into a cool new place that I’m in the process of decorating. Very early stages - trying to work with what I already have before I start buying new things.

Also I’ll be adding quite a bit more lamp lighting as my place is quite dark - but will get to that soon.

I have two rugs and wanted opinions on what looks best. I’ve tried them both alone and also layered. I like the colours in the Persian but I feel like the jute rug really lightens things up alone and is a better size.

Apologies for the different angles, lighting and mess, took these at different times without considering sharing.

Open to “get a different rug” if that’s the best option but ideally would love to use what I have. Will also accept any other suggestions for decor and layout etc if anyone has any burning ideas. got lots of ideas myself but not rushing it!

Thanks in advance 🙂

My perfect corner

I especially love the decor of this little corner—a small side table paired with a very matching painting, and the warm glow of the light. It's also a convenient place to put my keys and personal belongings when I get home, giving it a very "homey" feel.

Plz tell me I didn’t just waste $450

I’ve been trying to find a new rug for a while (OG rug first pic). I like the rug, but it’s very textured and nearly impossible to vacuum. I have a toddler and we often have snacks and whatever in the living room. Despite my best efforts to put down a mat or something, crumbs, dirt, whatever just get in the rug and live there forever. It’s also too small for my space.

After about a year of looking, trying to find a big enough rug (needed a 9 ‘ x 12’) on a budget, I came across this one (2nd & 3rd pic). My birth stone is turquoise and I have a lot of turquoise blues and greens in the rest of the house so I figured I can make this work.

It went on sale for Memorial Day and I pulled the trigger. It’s non-returnable. Tell me it looks good… or at least tell me it doesn’t look god awful.

I’m hoping by bringing in a blue lamp, green accents, blue/green blankets from the rest of the house I can make this work. Plz tell me I’m not wrong…

Living room feed back

Art, coffee table, credenza thrifted / collected. Unsure what to do re: window treatments with the tongue and groove ceiling - how high to hang? Rug too small I know. A bigger rug is $$$. We plan on removing the mantle too… Any other feedback is welcomed

Progress update on my guest bedroom makeover.

Posted here earlier asking for suggestions on bedding. The bedding I decided on is mauve-blush pink which will take some time to arrive, and our guests are arriving today. So we used the bedspread we already have, which I know is underwhelming and also got a beige quilt from home goods. It’s very soft and light, which is good coz my family members are warm sleepers and don’t want a thick blanket. This will have to do for until the new bedding arrives. I promised an update, so here you go. I still need to paint baseboards and add curtains, but that’s for another day. I’m happy with the progress!

Which facing for island counter

I’m expecting a lot of flack for having an island instead of a counter/coffee bar, but for $50 on FB market place, plenty happy with it.

The question is which spot does it look best? Turned facing us it blocks the trash can and, to my eye, feels like it doesn’t “fit”. But my sister saw it the sideways direction(first pic) and said she liked it the other way much more(Second pic)

No, I won’t be using the extender top, I may even take it off unless there’s some mystery position I’m not considering.

Edit:typo

Decorating around ugly couch

Hello all! I have a couch that was given to me and I can’t really afford a new one of a similar quality right now, however the couch is a horrible gray color. Any tips or ideas for what to pair with this so it doesn’t look so damn drab?

Oversized Wall Art Suggestions

Looking for affordable oversized wall art for a hallway that feels unique and not like the usual Wayfair/At Home decor ones. I’m fine with framed prints since paintings are expensive. Tried Etsy but most of them look ai generated still trying to find genuine stores. Any genuinely good online websites you’d recommend?

Edit: Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions! I am posting in local subs to get info on art fairs, exhibitions and student shows.
