Community Proposal: Picnic, yay or nay?
Hey Brisbane people!
I recently made a post looking to meet some new people, and I was genuinely surprised by how many responses I got from others who are also looking for friends and a bit more community. I have since found a lovely group of Reddit misfits with whom I've been spending much of my time. The best part is that, whenever I mention this group of friends publicly, I receive a lot of comments and dms asking to join.
So, I thought... why not actually get a bunch of us together?
I’m thinking of organising a casual public picnic somewhere central, probably New Farm Park or Roma Street Parkland, where people can come along, bring some food or snacks, sit on the grass and meet some new humans.
Nothing formal, no weird networking energy. Just a low-pressure afternoon for people who would like to expand their social circle. Come alone or bring a friend, stay for half an hour or stay all afternoon.
At this stage I’m mostly trying to gauge interest before I organise a date/place properly, so if you’d genuinely be keen, comment or send me a message!
Apparently Brisbane has a small army of people all sitting at home wanting friends. Many of us have migrated to Australia, relocated from other cities or one day woke up feeling a bit lonely and a bit blue, so we may as well do something about it 🌳🧺
Keen to hear your thoughts!
