Making friends in your late 20s is an absolute sport

Moving to a new city where you do not know a single soul is incredibly daunting. You spend your weekends wandering around South Bank or the Powerhouse just hoping you will magically strike up a conversation with someone who also likes board games and craft beer

[29M] Looking for people to go clothes shopping with.

Yo! This is probably a less orthodox post, but I was wondering if anyone wanted to go clothes shopping with me at Garden City.

For context, I want to get out more, and I figured a nice set of new clothes would help give me the confidence I need to get out there and meet people. So I went out! Walked into the shops! And immediately realised I had no idea what I was doing. Being completely overwhelmed with choice, I ended up buying nothing...

So if there's anyone out there like me who needs to update their decade-old wardrobe, likes shopping for clothes, or just wants to hang out, send me a DM! The centre has plenty of food and entertainment too, so we can always just grab a bite or do something else if we get sick of walking around the shops.

Introverts welcome to join <3

Hi everyone!

I've decided to make a discord for those of us who are neurodivergent, introverted or otherwise socially awkward. The whole point is that it's super low-key. I'll most likely be in VC hanging out and playing games majority of the time, but would like to eventually organise some chill hangouts in person with some people also.

As for me - i like guitar, live music, gaming, poetry, reading, movies, escape rooms, board games, picnics, strolling through the art gallery and things like that. Definitely predominantly a homebody though!

If you're interested, comment or DM me i'll send you the link! I've only just fully set it up today, so there's just a couple of us so far. I'm always open to feedback on how to improve it also.

Anyway, ciao!

[28 M] Looking to get to know like-minded people

I am a geeky introverted biologist. Most days I spend my time in the lab running experiments doomed to failure! Some of my interests are reading, meditating, gardening, thrift shopping, hiking, cooking, long walks, cats, museums and puzzles. I like to think that I am a good listener and a supportive friend. So if you feel like we can be good friends, please reach out!

Female friends around 30 in Brisbane city

Hi I’m moving to new farm soon for work and have only a couple of friends up there so I’m interested in making some new girlfriends in the city. Recently went through a break up so I’m pretty isolated and looking to branch out and find my people!

I’m a 30 y/o RN who loves Pilates, gym, my dog, markets, comedy shows, a beer at the pub or a cocktail or few. Very laid back, let me know if you want to be friends!

Any beginner-friendly Salsa practice groups around? (Or down to start one?)

Hi all,

So I’m about four weeks into learning salsa (On1 Cali style) and have been checking out some of the free Sunday socials over in the Valley.

The classes are great, but you really need the floor time to build that muscle memory. I’m fine working on footwork, shines, and flows by myself, but you obviously need a partner for the actual techniques. Plus, the social floor is where the real learning happens!

Everyone is friendly, but I’ve noticed the social scene can be a little "brutal" for beginners, especially for leads trying to find their footing.

Does anyone know of any open, low-pressure practice groups around Brisbane that cater to newbies? If there isn't one already, I'm highly considering starting up a casual practice/meetup group myself.

Let me know if you know a spot or if you'd be keen to get together and practice!

The Mandalorian and Grogu

I'm planning to watch this movie at Hoyts Sunnybank because it's my side of town and I can get discounted tickets there. Throwing it out here to see if anyone else might be keen to join.

I'm 40sM, a casual fan of Star Wars stuff - mainly just the movies though and definitely not nerd level. I've watched all of The Mandalorian TV series though am pretty gifted at forgetting details!

These are the sessions I'm considering (all Xtremescreen):

Fri 22/5 9pm

Sun 24/5 3:30pm

Sun 24/5 9pm

Tue 26/5 6:30pm

Tue 26/5 9:30pm

For ticket we can either co-ordinate to book individually for adjacent seats, or if you want in on my discounts ($17.80 which I can access anytime, possibly $6.80 subject to availability) I can book for you with cleared prepayment.

If you're interested comment or DM with your preferred session time/s out of the options above and your preferred booking method (separate or pay me first to book together).

The absolute anxiety of showing up to a social meetup alone

I have been thinking about attending one of the regular board game nights or book clubs around the West End but every time the day arrives I completely chicken out. The thought of walking into a room full of strangers and trying to awkwardly insert myself into an ongoing conversation gives me massive dread. How do you blokes force yourself to just take the plunge?

Gym buddies

Hi everyone,

36F and married, restarting my gym journey and would love to make some new friends to work out with and keep me motivated. Does anyone use Jetts gym in the valley or Mitchelton?

Looking for friends!

Hi guys,
My name is Pablo (38) and moved to Brisbane from NZ last year. At the beginning was alright, because I moved in with my girlfriend but in March she left me.
It has been a rough year, like snowball of shit after she left.
I have been trying to get my life together slowly, eating healthy and exercising but it feels lonely at times.
I started going on hikes and running, being in nature has helped.

About me, I’m neurodivergent ADHD and maybe some autism. I’m very geeky, like all the geeky stuff but I don’t look like it. I like board games, video games, going out, hiking, running, trying new things. I drive trucks for a living and write on my spare time.

I live by myself with 2 cats.

I’m located in north Brisbane, Chermside

Happy to chat 🙂

UQ's [unofficial] Birdwatching and Ornithology Society - Gauging Interest

Hello!! My name is Wren and I am hoping to gauge interest in our birding club. We are currently unaffiliated with the university, however are hoping to change that next semester!

We currently host weekly birdwatching events by the lake on campus at 4pm on Mondays and would love to see you! This Saturday, we also have a planned meet at the Sandy Camp Wetlands where we will be joined by Professor Richard Fuller.

Any comments or shares would be greatly appreciated, and we hope to meet some new people! I have added a link to our Instagram page below ❤️

Looking to meet some funny or nerdy people

I'm 35M and I've spent the last year living a fairly introverted lifestyle. I'd like to get to know some more people around Brisbane, I do already have some amazing friends and family but I'm curious about what kind of people are around that I haven't already met.

Happy to chat, game, call, meet in person, I can host, drive and live pretty close to the botanical gardens in the city, if you have an interesting hobby you want to share that would be really cool.

Looking for some kind of club/group to join :)

Hello :) I'm 34m and I've been pretty lonely lately. I live alone and I don't see my friends very often because they all have kids and I do not. I need to get out of the house more and make some new friends. I'd love to find a nice and welcoming bunch of people to hang out with every week or two, preferably around my age and with similar interests.

Does anybody have a trivia team, bowling group or something similar that are open to new people? Or even just people who like going to the movies and wouldn't mind someone else tagging along? I'm not much of an online gamer but would be open to giving that a go (I've got a PS5). I'm really open to anything at this point as it has been quite a while since I had a solid friend group.

A bit about me: I'm neurodivergent (autism and ADHD), and very nerdy. I love movies, video games, Disney, theme parks, Marvel, and a lot of other things pop culture related. Haven't played board games in a while but I enjoy those too. I work full time Monday to Friday so I'd be looking to do things on evenings and weekends. I can be a bit awkward at first but I'm trying to push myself out of my comfort zone.

If there is anyone else in here looking for the same, maybe we could start something up?

Edit: I live in Coorparoo so looking for Southside friends :)
