Unsure what to do
I just stumbled upon this subreddit and figured I'd pitch my dilemma and see if anyone has been in a similar situation or has any advice.
I live with an asshole (AH) relative. He's a drunk through and through. After multiple calls to law enforcement, he was finally caught and charged with a DUI. The officer actually called me and asked if I wanted to pick him up because it was his first offense. I told him to let him sober up in jail because this was nowhere near his first offense.
Anyways, AH gets out, goes to court, the whole deal. Ends up with a device in his vehicle. I'm not sure if it's an intoxalock or another brand (are there other brands?). He signed a 3 year contract with whoever installed it, that was 2 years ago. His vehicle broke almost immediately after and he lost his job. He's had basically no money other than what he can beg and borrow from the few friends and one family member that pity his sorry ass. All of his money goes to booze and lunchables.
I've seen no mail from any company trying to get money from him. I know he's not paying the intoxalock company, he's not even paying for his own cell phone. They aren't going to just let him walk away with the device in his vehicle and no payments made, are they? Will they report him to the court? He's not driving because his vehicle is broken, but is he supposed to be doing anything with the device to show that he's using it? Will this blow back on me in any way?
