Stop telling people they have OCD

I see way too many people here diagnosing others with OCD because of health anxiety. You're just creating another layer of anxiety for these people. I had to go through the worst weeks of my life thinking I was stuck in a *TRIGGER WARNING* : sensorimotor OCD loop until my therapist reassured me that it's a typical hypervigilant anxiety loop and that I'm not stuck forever. And I'm not the only one that experienced this, in fact I just had an hour long conversation with another Redditor with the exact same problem. They had breathing issues due to anxiety, went on google and found reddit posts about sensorimotor OCD.

Congrats, now you made that person fear their own hyperawareness which wasn't even a problem before.

I know that some of the people here do actually have OCD. But to generalize and claim everyone with health anxiety has a form of OCD is just not true at all.

Thankfully I feel better than a month ago but god damn you guys unwillingly and unknowingly cause more harm than good sometimes.

Careful with Reddit Experts

Something strange has been going on for the last 1-2 years. Organisations like NOCD and some Users on Reddit seem to pathologize a lot of behavior linked to Anxiety, ADHD and Depression and call it OCD.

Some posts on r/OCD are laughable. A guys said he has Social media OCD and can't stop comparing himself to other peoples lifes on social media. Like come on. That's literally the most common Teenager behavior on earth.

Not every "obsessive" behavior means OCD.

It seems to be a trend to identify with debiliating mental illnesses so one can feel better about themselves.

Especially the self diagnosed Pure "O" guys are posting very questionable stuff that just sound like heightened Anxiety (don't get me wrong, Anxiety can be very debiliating aswell).

It seems like any form of Avoidance, Reassurance seeking, Checking, Ruminating is being labeled as OCD nowadays.

Reddit is the reason I started getting very bad Health Anxiety and started questioning my own thoughts. My therapist had to reassure that I "just" have Anxiety and not disabling OCD just because some people on Reddit said that being an overthinker = OCD.

So be careful with Reddit "experts". Most people don't know anything about mental health

What if the fear itself becomes a problem?

My health anxiety fixated on my own mind and it is the worst feedback loop ever. Because everytime I get anxious my brain uses it as proof that my brain is broken and that I will be stuck in this loop forever.

How to deal with regret

I was doing so fine in life but then I got invested in achieving a goal and I spent months doing nothing else. I have a perfectionist trait so once I failed achieving my goal I started spiraling and it caused me severe anxiety and depression.

I feel like broke my brain permanently. I don't even know if I can ever recover because I feel this deep regret inside of me. I wasted so much time and then failed afterwards. Lost money on it too. I feel like a fucking loser.

How did I not realize how harmful it was to my mental health? I don't even know what is going on with me, is it burnout, or just exhaustion, is it anxiety and depression? I don't fucking know. I don't want to lose my job because of my own stupidity that caused this whole mental health spiral, I don't want my parents to worry about me.

I just want to feel normal and happy again. Please someone tell me I will be fine. It has been weeks of overthinking, ruminating, catastrophizing, regret, anxiety etc.

Please tell me I will be fine again

So I have been going through weeks of stress which then became too much and caused severe anxiety. The first 3 weeks were exrteme but then I managed to cope with the symptoms. Well, until I realized that a lot of health related things can trigger extreme anxiety now.

The first trigger was stress as I said, followed by weeks of anxiety.

Then thoughts came up like "what if this will stay with you forever?" and this made me google for hours daily.

I realized I needed a lot of ressurance to calm down, but after a short time something else triggers my anxiety and the googling begins again.

My latest trigger has been a Reddit User who said his Anxiety is the reason he will ki.... himself, he made a goodbye Post which was his last post. Reading his post made me panic last night. I barely slept last night and my Anxiety is off the rails.

Reassurance seeking is common in GAD but i read that OCD could also be possible. Since I am extremely scared of having OCD or developing it my anxiety has gotten even worse.

I dealt with Anxiety for years but it never was this bad. Please tell me what to do, this anxiety is unbearable.

I don't know if Dream Pop / Indie ist really the best description but ChatGPT was really close thinking I was looking for "Show me How - Men I trust". The song I look for also had this kind of tropical Guitar and a female singer I think. The Picture of the depicted a Car in a summer evening. I think it was on a road or a hill not sure. The tempo is definitely a bit faster than "show me how" and the vibes were happier and more nostalgic I would say

Update: Found it: Still Corners - The Trip
