I posted my setup on here a while ago. I moved from full HID (stock 35w + Osram 35w) to a bi-LED projector setup, which is 40w+55w per side in low or high. I wanted to find out if this is too much for my stock wiring. I don't see flickering or any battery lights, nor do I see a large drop in voltage, but I'm wondering if it's worth putting in a relay to get a brighter beam since the stock system wasn't built for this. From my understanding, if I used a relay, it would have the stock low beam wiring into the relay to trigger it, and then the output from the relay onto the low beams of the projectors since the stock should manage flipping to high beam without an issue, plus the low beams are then connected directly to the battery.

Let me know if anyone has done this or has some pointers on the wiring.

I wanted to give an update on my last post about my custom SG9 headlight setup.

I have ordered two Bi-LED projectors for my low beams and two Bi-Laser LED projectors for my high beams. While both sets are dual-function, the laser projectors feature a focused beam.

This gives me a range of 180–200 m on quad low beams and 450–600 m+ on high beams, avoiding the glare issues of a standard quad Bi-LED setup. I modified the interior layout of the DRLs due to size restrictions, but I am keeping the core design concept. I also ordered amber LED strips for my DRLs and indicators (using 8 mm, 480 LED/m, 12V COBs). Because they operate on 12V, they run safely off my parking lights without needing a relay or step-up transformer. The projectors will run off a dual wiring harness that piggyback off my current HB3 connectors, most of the wiring for the drl will run tucked behind the housing instead of drilling new holes and sealing them.

I placed these strips in the original parking light housing to replace the indicator area I accidentally sprayed over, and I really like how it's turning out. The 3D-printable projector shrouds are designed to scale, though I might modify the bottom section later. I am printing them using ABS with a UV coating and heat-resistant paint.

Wanted to share the start of my projector build on my '07 Forester XT. I have been doing quite a lot of 3D printing and electronics work lately, including custom shapes and LED lighting, so I thought why not turn my spare headlight into something I've always wanted for this older car. My plan is to open my spare, wire up some COB 12V LEDs, print a diffuser out of ABS/ASA, and join it to either my fuse box or my park lights since it won't be using a lot of power and I'll have full control over the DRL feature. As for the main lights, I am incorporating Bi-LED projectors for both the low and high beams. I am aware that a hybrid system for the high beams may work better, but I haven't made my final decision yet; I will probably decide after ordering one pair of the Bi-LEDs. The projector shrouds will also be 3D printed with ASA, though I'm not too sure if I will keep the dotted design or not. After it's all done, I'm hoping to have a look that mixes current-generation cars with 2015-2020 Foresters. It should be really bright on long open roads and look amazing. I'll keep everyone updated!

Showing off my build here, might just be the most cool running and quietest pc with this case and what I have running and plan to run. I added the 8.8" uni screen, 2x 140mm intake fans, techware clip on streamers and did better cable management along the top and back of the case between the motherboard. Never see my fans go over 600 rpm or my temps above 60 C even if I am pulling over 400w. Soon I will be adding in either a Ryzen 7 9800X3D or waiting to see what zen 6 comes out with.
