AITAH for being mad at my brother for not hypothetically defending me.
Me (19F) and my brother (21 M) just had a hypothetical discussion about who would side with me and who would side with him during a court case or home visit from the police. For some background, me and brother 1 have had physical fights before, I don’t think it borders abuse, but he had hit and Punched me and one one occasion chocked me. The chocking did not last long as our other brother stepped in and dragged him away from me. Back to the point. In a case where brother 1 was to hit og harm me again and I called the police, me and brother 1 disagreed on whether brother 2 would testify on my behalf or tell the police the truth, if he was asked questions like «Has this happened before» or «Have you witnessed this before». I was sure he would take my side and tell the truth. But when brother 1 spesificed that he might be going to jail in this hypothetical, brother 2 answered that he’d say that the case isn’t his buisness and that it would be between me and brother 1. Brother 2 is genuinely a good person, he would never hit or harm me and would defend me with his life. But when the one hurting me, in this hypothetical, is our other brother he backs down and says nothing to defend me and get justice. I am so angry and have lost all respect for my brother. To him this is some hypothetical but it tells me everything I need to know about him. Is it unfair for me to be angry about this? Thought the hypothetical might be complicated, isn’t he still wrong for his answer?
