My character and I are leveling together. I built a WeakAura that ties real world calisthenics exercise to in-game events.

My character and I are leveling together. I built a WeakAura that ties real world calisthenics exercise to in-game events.

I've been playing WoW for 15 years and I've never been good at working out consistently. Gym? Always quit after three or four months. YouTube full-body workouts? Bailed at minute 15. Apps? Deleted. The pattern was always the same: two or three months of effort, then six months of nothing. I have ADHD, and every workout format I've ever tried just feels like boring homework.

Then I got deep into Classic Hardcore and stopped working out entirely. I was logging four hours a night and I wasn't going to stop. I felt bad about it. So one day I just thought: what if I did both at the same time?

I tried my phone timer first. Every three minutes, pause, do some push-ups, come back. It lasted a week. The timer didn't care if I was mid-combat, and I still had to think up the exercises myself. Boring and annoying, which was the exact problem I was trying to solve.

So I built something smarter.

StrongAura is a WeakAura that watches for real in-game events and fires a short, curated exercise challenge when they happen:

  • Quest turn-ins
  • Binding your Hearthstone
  • Learning a new skill at the class trainer
  • Taking a flight path

No planning. No mid-combat interruptions. Sets are always short and simple, under 30 seconds.

>The idea: when my character gets stronger in the game, I get stronger in real life. We level together.

The exercise catalog has 18 movements across chest, back, arms, legs, core, and full body. All calisthenics, no equipment needed. A controller system tracks which body parts you've already hit and picks the next challenge so you're not hammering the same muscles twice in a row. You just play. It figures out the rest.

I built and tuned the whole thing while leveling many hardcore characters from 1 to 30ish (I always die lol) . Early versions were broken (firing mid-dungeon, mid-boss), so I fixed it live and iterated as I leveled up. Now it waits for combat to end. It also uses the dead moments: hop on a flight master, you've got 90 seconds of nothing. That's your set.

There's a stat panel that logs everything: sets per exercise, plank time in minutes, lifetime Body XP. It looks like a second character sheet for your real body. Seeing +19562 Body XP lifetime next to my actual character stats is a feeling I didn't expect.

Six weeks in. Working out 3 to 4 times a week and enjoying it. First time in my adult life that's happened.

My wife thought I was insane. Now she's complimenting my body lol.

It's free. Pun very much intended.

Built it myself, happy to answer questions in the comments.
