We Are The Simulacra
We're obsessed with checking if the machine has achieved a soul, missing the flip happening right in front of us: we are flattening our own relationships to match the interfaces we built.
We've already began optimizing our interactions by choosing text over voice, curated profiles over presence, and "easy" communication over the messy reality of human connection. I saw that starting decades ago with the advent of text messaging.
I wrote a short piece mapping out how we became the simulacra before the technology even arrived.
