Inherited this large (6’x6’x3’) bush of unknown age. Would guess it’s well over 4 years. Want to spruce up my front yard and try to Niwaki this bad boy. Any guidance or advice would be appreciated!!

I planted these arbor vitiate in early spring and they just have looked measly ever since. They’ve gotten long slow deep waterings 2-3 times a week at first. Admittedly I’ve backed off on the watering since. I’ve fertilized. Are they too deep?

I also have 2 sycamores. I found them in bags on the side of the road in the fall and stuck them in my yard. One seemed like it got raked by deer early winter. The other got uprooted by a child in the spring. As you can see from the photos, the only growth is coming from the base. What, if anything can I do here? Only goal is really for these plants to grow/thrive/give oxygen and shade.

Per advice from this sub, bought black battery off MLToys to replace original grey battery. Unsure how to make the connections work? Do I pop the top off of the grey and wire it to black battery? Would appreciate any help, thanks?
