I think the opening episode was machines rising up from underground and destroying a city, while a young girl watches helplessly. Then a mysterious young male swordsman wearing modern clothes appears and starts cutting down the machines with his blade. She ends up tagging along with him while he travels. Other main characters that I remember are a guy with an invisible angel that follows him around and kills anyone that wishes to harm him, another young (elf?) girl that has a really op ability I think it was to speak things into existence. I forgot the reason why they all come together to fight each other (not sure if they even end up encountering each other in the first season)
