Another EMW question… help!

Sleep trained at 4.5 months. Now fully transitioned to two naps. He’s currently 7 months. Wake windows 3/3.5/3.75. Total daytime sleep is always between 2.5 and 3, never more than 3hrs.

Desired wake time is between 6 and 7.
Bedtime between 7 and 8.

Creeping up on 3-2 nap transition he started waking up at 5ish, and combined with bedtime getting too late and fighting the third nap, we figured the two naps would solve our problem. Sadly… it didn’t. He’s waking around 5 everyday and wanting to play.

We have the room blacked out. White noise. We don’t go in unless he cries and it escalates. We make a big deal at 6am with light, etc. We keep first nap at minimum 9am regardless of early wake up.

What I’ve probably done wrong and makes me embarrassed to post this is:

- the transition to two naps made bedtime so hard to navigate - looooots of screaming until we figured out the proper wake windows. So we gave him back the pacifier (we’d taken that away at nighttime when we sleep trained at 4.5 months). I’m assuming this was bad of me? But it hasn’t created any new issues I don’t think? And now bedtime is smooth as can be.

- some days I’ve held him once he wakes at 5 so he can sleep until 6am - I do this as getting him to make it until 9 for his first nap is a STRUGGLE if he woke at 5.

Retraining after local vacation

Hi everyone, desperate for opinions/experiences:

My baby turned 6 months last week. He was sleep trained at 4.5 months using the Ferber Method and had been sleeping 11 hours at night with one feed ever since.

Current wake windows:
2.25/2.5/2.75/3
Total daytime sleep 2.5-3.25hrs

We went on a local vacation last week (6hr drive, no time difference) to a family cabin - just my husband, myself, and our baby. We kept naps consistent, routines consistent, sleep environment as similar to home as possible, and from night one he couldn’t fall asleep independently/fall back asleep independently. We resorted to bouncing or feeding him to sleep each time he woke.

We’re home now after 5 nights away, and I had to bounce him to sleep again tonight at home due to him not self soothing at all/wailing intensely when put in crib and through three check ins.

My questions:
- how long do you wait to re sleep train after returning from a vacation?
- do you go right back to the beginning with your original check in time frames?
- how long did it take your babies to re sleep train?

5 month old still crying to sleep

Hi all - hoping for some advice as our 5+ month old still cries for 20-30 mins at bedtime most nights.

We sleep trained our now 5+ month old at 4.5 months using the Ferber method (and a sleep consultant). His current schedule has 3 naps:

2/2.25/2.25/2.5

First nap is 1.25-1.5hrs. Second nap is usually the same length. 3rd nap is 30 mins to an hour long.

Overnight, he’s fantastic. Wakes once for a feed and that’s it. He wakes around 6:20am basically every day which is great for us.

It’s bedtime that’s the issue and is breaking me. The odd night we hear next to no crying and he’s asleep in 10-20 mins. Most nights it seems to take him 25-30 mins to fall asleep with 20 mins involving crying. He’ll settle himself after about 5 mins so and we don’t always have to go in for a check-in, but the crying will start up again for another five. Rinse and repeat. I was under the impression that the heavy crying typically only lasts the first week, up to sometimes the second week.
