NRIs living abroad: Would you move back in with your parents after retirement, or continue living independently overseas?
For context, I moved abroad with my parents at a young age and have now lived here for 16+ years in the Middle East. Most of my adult life has been abroad & I met my husband here, and we got married here as well.
Thankfully, my in-laws don’t expect us to move back for them and already have their own retirement plans in place.
But I still sometimes wonder about the bigger picture for NRIs long-term.
Is choosing to continue building your life abroad considered selfish, especially when parents get older? Or is it simply prioritizing the life, stability, and family you’ve built for yourself?
Curious how other long-term NRIs see this.
