What's the best ratio for an oval diamond if I want it to look bigger?

I tried on an oval today and it surprised me how different it looked from one angle to another. One looked long and kind of elegant, another looked a little squished even though they were close in size. I keep seeing people talk about best ratio for oval diamond like it is some magic number, but I dont really know what actually looks normal on a hand day to day. If you wanted it to look a bit bigger without looking super skinny, what ratio did you end up liking?

I’ve been thinking a lot about engagement rings and how important they really are.

On one hand, it’s a symbol of your commitment, so it feels like it should be special.

On the other hand, it’s easy to get caught up in styles, size, or cost.

I feel like what matters most is choosing something that fits your partner’s taste and lifestyle, rather than worrying about trends or expectations. It’s a personal choice, and the right ring is one that makes both of you happy.
