A word of advice to those posting about looking for a partner: if you already know you’re only open to certain ethnicities, skin colors, or you have a very specific type in mind, you should be upfront about that early on. In fact, mention it in your post so it saves everyone’s time. We’re allowed to have preferences of course, but transparency goes a long way. And honestly, you’d think being Quran-alone would also mean freeing oneself from the shackles of racism/colorism and critically examining the biases we inherited growing up, but sadly that isn’t always the case.
