Kindle suddenly dies

I had an 11th gen Paperwhite that I purchased in 2022. I used it nightly almost the entire time. The other night it froze with white bands running through it. 40 second restart didn’t work initially but I was finally able to restart it. I was able to go to settings to make sure software was current and it seemed fine… until I opened an ebook. Exact same thing happened. Now, it won’t really do anything.

I expected it to last much longer after seeing posts of people with much older kindles still going strong. Is this a normal with the newer ones? It really makes me not want to get another one but I feel so lost without it(reading my kindle in bed was part of my nightly routine and so much easier than a physical book and book light)!

Tldr; The paperwhite I purchased in 2022 died. Is it common for them to die so soon?

Help choosing next decide

My 11th gen Paperwhite just gave up out of nowhere. I don’t know why but I expected it to last much longer. Anyway, I’m super disappointed and do not know what to do for my next choice. I’ve heavily considered moving away from kindles, but I have so many ebooks from Amazon. I also would be able to trade in my old one and was told by customer service that I would have a 15 percent discount applied to my next device. So, do I stick with Kindle? Colorsoft or signature? Or do I go with something completely different?
