Planning to visit Sikkim in the last week of August

Hi everyone,

We're planning to visit Sikkim in 2 weeks. So, any advice regarding monsoon, road conditions, landslides, places that may be inaccessible? North Sikkim is also in the plan. Can we go ahead or should we wait till mid- september or early october? Also, has anyone travelled with this group called 'Dewanjee Travel Expeditions' ? If yes, how was your experience?

Looking for underrated destinations in/around South India for a 3–4 day trip

Hey guys!

Planning a 3–4 day trip with 2 friends (3 people total). Our budget is around ₹15–20k per person, including travel, stay, food and sightseeing.

We're based in Kerala, but we're open to travelling outside South India as well if it's feasible within the budget.

We're open to pretty much anything — hill stations, beaches, islands, forests, waterfalls, scenic cities, etc. Places like Lakshadweep, Udaipur, hill stations, etc. are all on the table.

We're mainly looking for:

- 🌄 Beautiful scenery / unique places

- 🏔️ Hills or 🌊 beaches are both fine

- 🧘 A good mix of relaxing + exploring

- Prefer less touristy/interesting places

- 3–4 days

- ₹15–20k/person all-inclusive

We've been considering places like Udaipur, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Valparai, Meghamalai, Kudremukh, etc.

For those who've travelled from Kerala:

Is something like Udaipur realistically doable within ₹15–20k/person for 3–4 days, including travel? Or would the travel cost make it impractical?

Also open to any unexpected/underrated destinations that you think would fit this budget.

Would especially appreciate recommendations from people who've actually done these trips and can share their approximate total cost and mode of travel.

Thanks! 🙌

Is there any point approaching Dubai Consumer Rights regarding a Samsung display issue?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on whether it's worth approaching Dubai Consumer Rights/Consumer Protection regarding an ongoing issue with Samsung UAE.

I own a UAE-purchased Galaxy S23 Ultra that developed a vertical purple line on the display during normal usage. The device is out of warranty, so I understand Samsung is not obligated to provide a free repair.

However, my frustration is with how the case has been handled.

Some background:

- An authorized Samsung service center in India inspected the device and confirmed the issue was not caused by physical damage.

- Samsung has acknowledged that the issue is due to a display failure.

- When I initially approached Samsung UAE, I was quoted around AED 850 for the repair.

- After escalating to the CEO Office and being told they would review the matter and provide the maximum possible support, I later received a higher quote of around AED 1,200.

- I provided evidence of another out-of-warranty Samsung customer who, after CEO escalation, reportedly received goodwill support and paid only AED 100 as labor charges.

- When I asked what specifically differentiated my case from that customer's case, Samsung repeatedly avoided answering the question.

- Over several months, I received numerous template responses that simply repeated "out of warranty" without addressing my actual concerns.

- One of the latest responses even contained the line "My name is null," which made me question whether my emails were being reviewed properly or whether I was just receiving automated responses.

At this point, I am not even arguing about the warranty itself. My concern is the lack of transparency and the inconsistent treatment of seemingly similar cases.

Has anyone in Dubai had success approaching Consumer Rights/Consumer Protection for issues like this?

Can Consumer Rights require Samsung to explain how goodwill decisions are made, or is this something they generally won't get involved in because the device is already out of warranty?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Solo trip to Darjeeling(25F)

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a solo trip to Darjeeling from Kerala and would love some advice from locals and experienced visitors.

A few questions:

  1. How safe is Darjeeling for solo female travelers?

    - Is it generally safe to walk around during the day and evening?

    - Are there any areas I should avoid?

  1. What is the best way to travel from Kerala?

    - Should I fly to Bagdogra and take a taxi/shared cab?

    - Any other convenient or budget-friendly options?

  1. Which areas are best to stay in?

    - Looking for safe, clean, and reasonably priced accommodations.

    - Hostel, homestay, and hotel recommendations are all welcome.

  1. How many days would you recommend for a first visit?

  1. What are the must-visit places in and around Darjeeling?

    - Popular attractions

    - Lesser-known spots

    - Good viewpoints for sunrise/sunset

    - Cafés and local food recommendations

  1. Is it easy to get around without hiring a private vehicle?

  1. What's the weather like during August - September and what kind of clothing should I pack?

Any other tips, dos and don'ts, or things you wish you'd known before your first trip would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
