I want to go to a solo trip somewhere in North. Need suggestions

Hey guys, I am a 24M and want to go to somewhere north, somewhere cooler on a solo trip. I would like to stay in good hostels, interact with people and have fun somewhere, where no one knows who I am.

I have been to most of the place in uttarakhand, as my college was there.

If anyone has been on a solo trip, or even in a tourist group with unknown people, please suggest some good groups as well

I need some safe to go suggestions!!

Witnessing tigers on tar road is very common in Indian jungles where tourism is at its higher level, but it's a very rare sight to unfold for a commoner who hasn't visited the tiger reserves yet. This photograph is dedicated to them in particular. I believe you would enjoy this intense moment where healthy tourism co exist in the wild, photographed at Tadoba Andheri tiger reserve, Maharashtra - India

Escape into the wild beauty of Ramnagar

Ramnagar is the perfect escape for nature lovers, surrounded by forests, rivers, and peaceful countryside vibes. Known as the gateway to Jim Corbett National Park, it offers jungle safaris, birdwatching, riverside sunsets, and quiet stays close to nature. The calm atmosphere and wildlife experiences make Ramnagar refreshing and unforgettable.

Vietjet - they are really strict

Hey! Just a heads-up for Vietjet flight, they are really strict about hand luggage. Everything you carry on board (your main bag, purse, sling bag, AND any duty-free shopping) all has to add up to 7 kg or less. They actually weigh it at the boarding gate, so make sure you are within the limit! 😊 And trust me, their scale is NOT your friend. Either you pay up or say goodbye to your stuff right there at the gate! 😂

First International Trip, questions regarding mobile network and currency

Hi,

Taking my first international trip to Kenya (honeymoon) in few weeks. Booked via travel agency.

But have questions;

  1. Do I need to get a local sim for Internet? Or does activating international roaming is sufficient enough?

  2. I have dollars with me, but in case I want to buy something from local market, can I use my HDFC debit card to withdraw local currency from ATM?

Please drop any other suggestions you have :)

Thanks!

recommendation please

Hi everyone, I’m visiting India next week specifically Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Rishikesh, and I’m looking to buy jewelry, clothes, and perfumes for souvenirs and personal use. Do you have any recommendations for shops or markets that offer good quality at reasonable prices?

Also, what are some other must-try experiences while I’m there? Things like facials, massages, hair treatments, waxing, or anything unique that you’d recommend trying in India? 😃

Georgia visa is a scam and I'm done - 3 rejections, fake reasons, ₹1.5L wasted. Avoid.

So I planned a honeymoon to Georgia. Beautiful country, great food, amazing history - or so I thought. What followed was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life dealing with any government system, and I want to make sure nobody else goes through this blind.

Attempt 1: I got rejected because I entered my name incorrectly. Fair enough, my mistake. Except - their portal gives you zero guidance on how they want names entered. No format example, no validation, nothing. Azerbaijan's portal tells you exactly what they want. UK's portal has a full guide before you start. Georgia's portal just... lets you fill it wrong and then charges you to find out.

Attempt 2: Rejection reason was so vague I genuinely couldn't figure out what to fix. Reapplied based on my best guess. Wrong guess apparently. Still no clarity from their end.

Attempt 3: Fixed everything. Same documents as my wife's application which got approved. Bank statement - certified, unaltered, straight from the bank. Rejection reason? "Bank statement was modified."

It wasn't. My wife's application with the SAME bank statement got approved. Think about that for a second.

Now here's the fun part - the rejection email says you can appeal within 10 days using a form. There is no form. No link. Nothing on the portal. Emailed them. No reply. Called them. Nobody picked up. The appeal process exists on paper and nowhere else.

I've travelled to the UK, Turkey, Egypt, UAE. All approved me with lesser balance, lesser documents, zero drama. Georgia - a country that desperately needs tourism dollars - is out here rejecting Indians on made up grounds and pocketing the fees.

Their "Visit Georgia" marketing is a straight up lie. The reality is an opaque portal full of glitches, no customer support, no appeal mechanism, and rejection reasons that contradict themselves.

If you're an Indian passport holder planning Georgia - just go to Armenia instead. Visa on arrival, genuinely welcoming, similar history and landscapes, and the people actually want you there. Or Azerbaijan. Their e-visa portal alone shows they respect your time.

Georgia isn't worth the mental gymnastics. There are better countries in the Caucasus and they want your business more.

Sri Lanka / Sth India

Planning my 2nd trip to India and thinking this itinerary looks good (I put it into ChatGPT to optimise for flow of travel). I don't really like fast travel, so will be staying 3-4 days in most places and these are all places I can get to fairly easily. But, am I missing anywhere in the South that you would highly recommend, and why would you recommend them?

Need hotel recommendations for mussorie

I'm planning a family trip (3 days) to mussorie..can u suggest a hotel, not too expensive which is suitable for parents. I was thinking to walk to landour, will that be too much for parents? Or should I book cab for them? Is it better to stay in mussorie then go to landour or vice versa?

Planning a Sikkim trip with my fiancée — confused about cabs, packages and stays.

Hi everyone,

I don’t have a lot of travel experience, especially in the mountains, so I wanted some advice from people who’ve been to Sikkim before.

I’ve done a couple of solo trips earlier, but I ended up spending way more than I should have because I didn’t plan properly. This time I’m planning a trip with my fiancée, so I want things to go a bit smoother.

We’ll both be reaching Siliguri in the morning from different places, and this is the rough plan I made after reading online guides and using ChatGPT:

Day 1 – Reach Gangtok, relax and explore nearby areas. Also plan to book a Nathula day-trip cab locally for Day 3.

Day 2 – Explore Gangtok properly.

Day 3 – Nathula Pass + Tsomgo Lake day trip, then back to Gangtok.

Day 4 & 5 – Travel to Lachung, relax, explore nearby places, and celebrate her birthday there.

Day 6 – Return to Siliguri.

I had a few doubts and would really appreciate some guidance from experienced travellers:

Are private cabs easily available in Gangtok for routes like Gangtok ↔ Lachung, or should I arrange everything beforehand?

Are stays/hotels in Lachung generally available on the spot if needed? I’ll probably pre-book an Airbnb, but just wondering about backup options.

Are tour packages actually worth taking for Sikkim, especially for first-time travellers? If yes, are there any trusted websites/agencies for cabs or packages?

Would really appreciate any suggestions, tips, or things I should avoid. Thanks a lot!

Finally convinced my husband to take me to Manali — honest review

Took me 1 year to convince him. He thought it would be too touristy. Went last month and we were both surprised.

What worked:

  • Stayed in Old Manali, not Mall Road. Quiet cottage, river outside, no traffic.
  • Solang Valley at 7 AM — empty, peaceful, paragliding was ₹1800 and worth every rupee.
  • Café 1947 by the river. Sat for 2 hours just talking. No phones. Felt like dating days again.

What didn't:

  • Rohtang Pass — 3 hours traffic, dirty snow, left in 30 mins.
  • Mall Road shopping — same stuff cheaper in Delhi.

Total: ₹32k for 2 people, 3 nights, including flights from Delhi.

Only regret — should've stayed 5 nights, not 3.

Anyone planning a couples trip, ask away. Happy to share cottage name in DM.
