TW: Bracing for third loss

hi all,

TL;DR: ~5w5d, hCG rising well, gestational sac + yolk sac seen but no fetal pole yet. Repeat scan next week. Has anyone had this timing and gone on to see a heartbeat?

I’m spiraling a bit and would really appreciate hearing from women who had similar early ultrasound situations that either turned out okay or unfortunately didn’t.

This is my third pregnancy after two previous early losses. My last pregnancy ended as what I think was an anembryonic pregnancy / blighted ovum where there was only a gestational sac and no yolk sac.

This time:

  • Last sex/conception window: April 17
  • I think ovulation was around April 19–20
  • Today is May 15, so I should be around 5w4d–5w5d
  • My beta hCG was around 11,800 earlier this week and today it was 28,000
  • Ultrasound showed:
    • gestational sac
    • yolk sac
    • but still no fetal pole or heartbeat yet

The doctor said it may still simply be too early and asked me to come back next week.

What’s making this emotionally hard is that my symptoms have been fluctuating a lot. I’ll have periods where breast tenderness and pelvic sensations increase, then they almost disappear by the next morning. I also had much stronger symptoms in my previous pregnancies (even though they ended in miscarriage), so the inconsistency is really scaring me.

I know nobody here can predict the outcome, but I would really appreciate hearing:

  • if anyone had only a yolk sac around 5w3d–5w5d and later saw a heartbeat
  • or if this ended up being another anembryonic pregnancy for you
  • and generally how your timelines looked

I feel like I’m living scan to scan right now and my previous losses are making it very hard to think clearly.

Thank you to anyone willing to share.

DPO 14-16-18

Had two losses already so I m not even panicking at this point - genuinely numb to be honest. These are 14-16-18-19 dpo but I’m fully convincing myself the line is going fainter. Will have my first blood draw tomorrow at 21 dpo. If you pray for me please make it that whatever the outcome I manage to get through it 🙏
