What is correct Hope Pro 5 freehub service interval? 1.5 months and 2k km and already total carnage inside

TL;DR: What is correct service interval on Hope Pro 5 freehub and other hub parts? Apparently shorter than 2 months or something went really wrong with mine.

Story for context:

I have a wheel set built on Hope Pro 5 hubs running on Cube Nulane C62 Hybrid (ultralight cross Bosch SX ebike). Everything is brand new, first owner with less than 2 months and 2k km.

When I've put my bike together I've inspected hubs under end caps and inside the freewheel and everything looked fine. Plenty of blue Mobil XHP grease Hope uses everywhere, parts assembled according to diagrams.

It ran fine till about 2 weeks ago when I've noticed freehub pawls skipping. At first once every few rides then every ride then on last ride there was really nasty metal on metal sound.

Upon inspection I couldn't believe what I saw - black smelly tar instead of grease, metal shavings everywhere, pawl retaining clip ring came off. Some pawls have rust spots.

This is super weird as this Spring was super dry and bike never got in contact with water. I also do not clean rear cassette with running water but use microfiber cloth wetted with isopropyl alcohol and floss in between the cogs. Rest of the bike is cleaned using Slica waterless ceramic bike wash on microfiber rag.

I've striped down everything, cleaned and re-greased. Thankfully freehub body and ratchet ring in main hub look fine, all bearings seem to be ok as well. I'll look into getting spare pawls and springs just to have them on hand.

Any idea what could have happened? My guess is I should have cleaned and re-lubed hub internals sooner. Is there a specific interval?
