I've spent the last year building a basketball analytics platform as a solo developer and finally started putting it in front of people.

The idea came from a simple observation: a lot of coaches and smaller clubs still spend hours after games pulling stats into spreadsheets, building reports manually and trying to turn numbers into something useful for the next game.

Top professional teams have analysts and expensive tools.

Most teams don't.

So I started building Statly - a platform that takes game data and turns it into structured scouting and coaching reports.

The reports include things like:

* Team comparisons * Four factors * Shot charts * Player impact breakdowns * Game flow visualisations * Custom time-range reports

One thing that surprised me while building this is that coaches don't really ask for more dashboards or more numbers.

They want answers quickly.

They want to know why they lost the rebounding battle, why the offence stalled in the third quarter or which lineups actually worked.

Building the product was difficult.

Getting it in front of the right people is proving to be even harder.

I'd genuinely love some feedback from coaches, analysts or anyone working in sports analytics:

* What do you actually look for after a game? * Which metrics matter most to you? * What do current tools do badly? * Would something like this fit into your workflow?

The idea came from seeing how much time goes into post-game preparation and report creation, especially for smaller clubs and coaching staffs without dedicated analysts.

The platform takes official game data and generates structured scouting PDFs containing things like:

• Team comparison
• Four factors
• Shot charts
• Player impact analysis
• Game flow visualisations
• Custom time-range reports (for example first half only or specific stretches of the game)

The goal isn't to replace analysts, but to remove repetitive formatting and data preparation work so coaches can spend more time on decisions and less time building reports manually.

The platform currently supports 20+ competitions including EuroLeague, EuroCup, ABA League, Basketball Champions League and multiple FIBA competitions.

I'd genuinely love feedback from people working in basketball analytics or coaching:

• Which sections would be most useful to you after a game?
• Which metrics do you actually use when preparing for opponents?
• What information is usually missing from existing tools?
• Would automated reports fit into your current workflow?

I'm building a basketball analytics platform and I've hit a problem that I'm sure others in sports analytics have faced before.

The analytics side is going well, but getting the data is becoming the biggest challenge.

I need play-by-play and shot location data to generate things like shot charts, lineup analysis, advanced team metrics, and scouting reports.

Right now I'm collecting data league by league and building custom scrapers/parsers for each competition. It works, but it feels difficult to scale because every league has a different website and data format.

For people who have worked with sports data:

How did you approach this problem?

Did you keep adding leagues one by one, use a commercial provider, or find another solution?

I'd appreciate any advice or lessons learned.
