Do bows need to be tuned up occasionally?

Hi all,

I've got a cartel fantom ILF recurve (28#), and I've owned it for nearly 12 years now. I typically only shoot it during the summer, so it's not year round.

I've never once touched/adjusted the tillers or had the bow inspected. While I'd call myself an intermediate for shooting, I know next to nothing about maintenance. Sometimes I get nervous about the bow imploding on me while shooting, even though the bow shoots fine (probably an irrational fear but that's why i'm posting here).

Is it worth having the bow taken to a pro shop to be looked at? Or maintenance I should have been doing? The archery shop near me is a bit of a trek to get to, and I work long days so it would have to be worth the effort to get to it.

Theres some wear and tear, as expected after 12 years of shooting. The limbs still go in and fit nicely to the tillers, but I find when it's unstrung the limbs slide out much easier than they used to (they used to lock in more).

Any comment or advice is appreciated!
