My Red claw crab problem solving
I tried to make the video better for viewing with filters as it was lights out for the crabs + feeding, and i was able to catch this one problem solving as one of the crab pellets had fallen in between a rock. This was the coolest thing to see!
John! But also a little vent as I’m worried about him.
I cant believe I’ve had john for so long! He was rescued back in January and ive grown a huge love for him. But with that love comes with huge worry about his health.
From what I can see, he is very healthy and loves to eat! He gets a huge variety of food while sticking to a high ratio fibre diet. His eye sacks on the other hand I am starting to worry about.
Over the past 6 months they have gotten bigger which also means heavier. John has developed new ways to combat this by eating & resting upside-down purposefully (it is not swim bladder because he has full control over his position and can easily go back to a control upward position, this also started once his eye sacks got bigger) aswell as the sacks possibly making it hard for him to breath as they start to grow near his gill flaps. Ive been moderating him and taking pictures and videos of his sack growth to be able to compare everything from previous videos. Id say right now he is in a green zone with his sacks, but in the next few months he may need a fluid reduction.
Currently right now contacting exotic vets in my area to see if they can preform the procedure because the last resort is I have to do it, and even though i will be working under my manager as he has worked with aquatic vets, treated and done successful procedures/surgeries on fish for probably longer I’ve been alive, he’s not a licensed vet and i can not take john to him and ask if he can do the procedure himself. I live in the GTA/toronto area of ontario canada, so if anyone knows any aquatic vets I would so appreciate it if you could message me the contact information!!
Another worry i have is dropsy. i have major dropsy anxiety because for the longest time, i couldn’t keep a goldfish from preventing it. Ive worked very hard on configuring my tank, schedule, and feeding/nutrients and understanding fancy goldfish anatomy to stop my fish from developing dropsy all together in which has worked since last year as i haven’t dealt with a dropsy case since. Im still terrified though because i could be doing everything right, and yet it can just happen. Im especially worried around when the time for the procedure comes because during his recovery process, he will be very very vulnerable.
Over all i just love john so much, hes my buddy and i want to keep him for as long as i can. He is at-least 2 years old from when he was surrender so im hoping to get many more years with him.
My camera decided to get a real HD picture of burgers skin
The bumpiest frog
A fresh piss balloon
He had unburied himself in mega piss balloon mode. His desire was to go into his water dish after I had refilled it and pee. Mission successful.
