AI will have the same treatment as CGI in Movie/Multimedia

ok so this has been bugging me for a while

remember when everyone was on the "CGI ruined movies" train? and yet alot of the movies people praise for being "all practical" are actually full of digital stuff. sky replacements, removing wires, extending sets, filling in crowds etc. its just done well enough that nobody notices, and the studios definitely aren't gonna advertise it lol

so people never actually hated CGI imo. they hated CGI they could see. the bad stuff

and i kinda think AI is going the exact same way. right now the only AI anyone notices is the obvious garbage, the weird hands, that shiny plastic look, faces that feel slightly off. so thats what "AI" means to most people. give it a few years and i bet we get "made without AI" on posters the same way movies brag about "no CGI"... while AI quietly does cleanup, dubbing, de-aging, rotoscoping in the background and nobody even asks

obviously its not a perfect 1:1 comparison. theres the whole jobs thing, the training data debate, and the fact that AI is way cheaper to pump out than CGI ever was. not saying those make it better or worse, just that they might change how it plays out compared to CGI

so idk. genuine question, if something you loved used AI and you honestly couldn't tell, would you still care? or is it only a problem when you can see it?
