Let me preface this as saying British intelligence is highly capable and stands ready to cover up its own tracks. But let’s say the Force Research Unit was responsible for setting up and handling PIRA Active Service Units.
Many in the Republican movement are currently engaged in discussion over the utility or rather futility of an armed campaign to remove the British government from the entire island of Ireland. I tend to side with the futility given the provision to accept a United Ireland peacefully via Referendum.
Many Provos alive today will tell you they never fired a shot in anger. I must insist that the very inner workings of the armed movement are compromised by British oversight of the armed splinter groups. One would be wise to never get involved in armed groupings at this critical juncture in Irish history. For those of us who oppose the peace process as a settlement that solidifies the British presence we must take it upon ourselves to unite under one banner, I encourage you to read, listen and learn and to respect all cultures and flags but not waver on the constitutional question.
There is no right or wrong grouping but we see for ourselves the repeated failures of the peace process and I urge vigilance in these times.
