Hamadryas februa
Photographed on our plaza. It’s interesting how they adjusted to tree bark, but it was fairly easy to spot xD.

On our way to see the actual monkeys we encountered a monkey slug! Real name is Phobetron hipparchia. I had never seen it before, so cool!
Location: Pilar, PY

Hola, we had 2 queen of the nights blooming this morning on the plaza. We feel so lucky to have seen them. If anyone knows which specific species it is I’d love to know!
For anyone who doesn’t know “Queen of the night”, these are flowers that only bloom 1 night each year. These plants are able to produce more flowers, but many individual plants in a region often bloom on the exact same night.
They have a very intense fragrance, together with their colors this one night they will attract a lot of pollinators, mainly moths and bats.
Hola, I’d love to ID this caterpillar. iNaturalist only gives me subfamily Hemileucini, google gives me Automeris io, but I don’t think that’s right (missing white and pink color).
Just in case, no, I didn’t touch it. Swipe to the 4th pic to see him ask for uppies :).
Location: Pilar, Paraguay.
I usually don’t touch them but we had to replace it since we had to work in the spot where he was. It was so big and pretty!
Don’t mind my very dirty hands, we planted 4.800 trees in 2 days with our bare hands and some help of 2 digging machines for a reforestation program.
Look at the cool moth caterpillar we found! It’s a leucanella memusae. No worries, we didn’t touch it :). I’ll definitely be returning to this plant to see if it pupates!
