I (36F) am scheduled for a laproscopic ovarian cystectomy next week to remove three cysts on my left ovary. My doctor believes they are dermoid cysts and he told me there is a big possibility he will have to remove the whole ovary and tube. I am fine with this decision since I am done having kids.
I am curious what a realistic healing time might look like. My doctor unfortunately was not very helpful and I really felt rushed out of the office at my preop appointment (waited 50 minutes in the exam room for the doctor and he was in the room with me for no more than 5 minutes). I work as a lead childcare provider and care for two and three-year-olds that I often have to hold and lift to change diapers as well as spend much of my day on the floor or on my feet. When I asked how long to expect to take off work my doctor said "Probably a week but you may feel like going back in three days." I feel like this is a pretty quick turn around time but I've never had any surgery before so I really don't know. I messaged him the other day to ask if there would be any restrictions when I do return to work and I was very specific on my work duties and all he replied back was "You will not need any restrictions." Is this realistic? I also have a 10 month old and breastfeed so I am really starting to worry about overdoing it. Again, maybe it won't be that bad but I also don't know that lifting children a few days after possibility having my ovary and tube removed will be a great idea

Any insight from those with experience would be so helpful!
