Amazon VAT in UK and Ireland
Hi,
I’m currently selling on Amazon Ireland and looking to expand to Amazon UK soon.
I am Irish and therefore do not have to register for VAT until I do €85k in sales in Ireland, however I need to register for VAT straight away in the UK as I am a non UK resident.
While I do not have to collect VAT in Ireland I do have to pay it, which is fine as it works out but would it be worth opening a UK Company and run all expenses from there such as advertising etc. as I can claim the VAT back as I will be VAT registered in Britain.
And if so, can I pay for the advertising from the British company and then utilise my VAT exemption on Irish sales or must everything come from the one account.
Also, if I am advertising in more than one market, such as the UK and Ireland, do I pay VAT to both countries depending on the amount of ad spend per market. Or is it all chargeable in the country of establishment.
Thanks
