Unsure of Background. Oil on Canvas.

Unsure of Background. Oil on Canvas.

I have nowhere near finished this yet as I've been too scared to tackle the body and fur of the lemur but I'll get there eventually.

The background is niggling at me. When I was painting it, I wanted a distant impression of a forest or jungle, never quite got it to where I'd like it so I blended any shapes and colours around to give it more of a blurred background. Completely by accident I lost balance and ended up pressing a finger against the wet paint, which kind of created a bokeh type effect, so I went with that and quite liked it at the time. Now I just don't know 😂 could I still get some distant tree impressions in there? Does the bokeh even make sense without a well established light source?

Any advice appreciated, am something of a beginner. Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!
